Ryan Scott
Founder & CEO, Causecast.org
Ryan Scott created Causecast.org in 2008 with the goal of redefining philanthropic communication and collaboration. Currently working with more than sixty partnering organizations (including Amnesty International, Invisible Children, TOMS Shoes, Global Green, Kiva, Human Rights Action Center and The Breast Cancer Fund) Causecast has developed into a global community and social action network that connects, promotes and empowers both nonprofit organizations and individual activists. By providing interactive resources and groundbreaking tools, Causecast helps transform interest into action, directly influencing positive change.
In 1995, Scott co-founded NetCreations, Inc., the first 100% opt-in e-mail marketing company, which demonstrated to the direct marketing industry that ethical email marketing was profitable, sustainable, and defensible. Scott built NetCreations from a two-person web design firm to a multi-million dollar public company in 2001, and now he has turned his knowledge of business and technology into the full-time passion of helping nonprofit organizations, and the activists that support them.
Scott currently holds investments in numerous Information Technology and Environmental Service companies including Tesla Motors, Mahalo, Cool Earth Solar, Earth Class Mail, Signum Biosciences, and Sierra Nevada Solar. He also serves as an active member of the Keiretsu Forum, the President's Council of Planned Parenthood, the Long Now Foundation, and the Methuselah Foundation, among others.
Scott lives in the greater Los Angeles area with his wife and son.
